Chisato Yasui develops her practice through a dialogue between material and body, creating works that expand the possibilities of ceramics. Her 2024 solo exhibition Whereabouts at GASBON METABOLISM presented a striking environment where linear, multifaceted forms coexisted with soft, rounded shapes. In 2025, Whereabouts – In the Midst of Form at CALM & PUNK GALLERY continued this exploration, introducing new works that pursued “forms in transition,” shifting toward gentler curves and more ambiguous contours.

In recent years, Yasui has incorporated gestures and postures that subtly distort the outline of clay. This approach echoes the moment clay softens during high-temperature firing, reflecting her evolving impulse toward new modes of expression.
